About the Project

As blockchain infrastructure scales, understanding the true cost of running each node, chain, and protocol becomes critical for strategic decision-making. This internship project builds a cost attribution system that integrates cloud billing data from AWS and OVH, maps infrastructure resources back to specific blockchain initiatives, and surfaces actionable insights through a comprehensive dashboard.

By the end of the internship, you will have shipped a real internal tool used by engineering and leadership to make infrastructure investment decisions.

What You'll Build

  • A billing data integration layer that pulls cost data from AWS and OVH APIs and normalizes it into a unified format
  • A resource-to-node mapping engine that attributes EC2 instances, bandwidth, and bare metal servers to specific chains, node types, and teams via tagging strategies
  • A dashboard displaying cost per chain, cost per node type, and cost trends over time
  • An alerting system that notifies teams when node costs exceed defined thresholds (e.g., runaway disk growth on archive nodes)
  • A recommendations engine that identifies right-sizing opportunities, reserved instance savings, and cases where managed RPC providers may be more cost-effective than self-hosting

Requirements

Technical

  • Proficiency in Python or TypeScript/Node.js
  • Basic understanding of SQL or NoSQL databases for storing and querying cost data
  • Experience with or willingness to learn data visualization tools (e.g., Grafana, Metabase, or a frontend charting library)
  • Comfort working in Linux/cloud environments

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Strong command of English
  • Ability to work independently and communicate progress regularly
  • Curiosity about Web3 infrastructure and cloud-native systems
